About

Who we are

BC Artistai is an East London basketball club built on the belief that great teams are made in the community. Founded in 2012, we compete in the United London Basketball League and represent the next generation of London hoopers — committed, competitive, and proud of where we come from. On and off the court, we stand for craft, grit, and the culture of the game.

BC Artistai crest

The crest

The BC Artistai crest centres on a basketball roundel — the universal symbol of the game, rendered in the club's deep orange. The five stars above the ball mark five founding principles: craft, community, competition, commitment, and consistency. The year 2012 is anchored at the base as a permanent reminder of where this all began. The circular form represents unity: no hierarchy inside the ring, just team.

History

Founded · East London

The club was founded in 2012 by a group of East London players who wanted something more than a pickup run — a real team, a real identity, and a real shot at competing. Starting with borrowed gym slots and hand-painted nets, BC Artistai worked its way into the United London Basketball League structure, earning its place through results and community trust.

Over the years the squad has grown from a core of five to a full rolling roster. We've had seasons that tested us, finals that went to the wire, and moments that reminded everyone why this matters. The name Artistai is a nod to the craft — basketball played with intention, creativity, and precision. Every jersey worn carries that standard.

Today the club is a recognised part of East London's sports landscape — and we're only getting started.
